Where do you live (City, State, or Country)? San Diego CA
Your script or media entry stood out among hundreds of others. What was the inspiration for your project ? As a child, my mother loved Ice skating. (I went through puberty with Janet Lynn.) Today, I’m a huge Sharks fan, so I merged the two. But it’s really about the characters. They could be a race car driver and an Olympic skier and the story would be the same.
How long did it take you to write your script or produce your pitch deck/sizzle reel/trailer...and what was your development process? I work a day job where I people-watch and spend time thinking about new plots. For actual writing time, maybe a couple of months.
What is your ultimate ambition as a writer or filmmaker? To have a produced script. I know Bob Saenz says that a lot of what you write gets changed at the whim of the producer/director, but still, my words on the big screen.
Which film directors or screenwriters inspire you? Why? I love Almost Famous. I love that Cameron Crowe used places where the original action actually happened.
What’s your all-time favorite movie or television show? Probably Being There. i still need to read the book but I’m afraid it will ruin the movie for me!
What advice do you have for others hoping to win a contest or place as a finalist as you have? First of all, make your script the best that it can be. You can’t win if you don’t submit. I had a great mentor who converted me to bold slug lines and, most of all, showed me what to leave out. (97 svelte pages) I previously submitted a short script and liked the notes I received at no extra cost. I had just completed the feature and wanted to hear what someone with a practiced eye thought about it, and this contest fit the bill.
What else are you working on that the world needs to know about? I am rewriting a script called Winifred Black that has orphans and aliens. I’m also working on Ponzi Twins and a project titled An Untimely Demise, mixing the world of insurance and assassins. I am trying to produce a short film called Call Me Willy, which is from a Novella I wrote twenty years ago for NaNoWriMo.
Where can the world find you? (Website, IMDB, etc.) No IMDB yet, but I’m D0xunt on all of the socials.
