The interview
What advice do you have for others hoping to win a contest or place as a finalist as you have?
1. Ignore every book, video, seminar you have ever encountered about screenwriting 2. Write what you want to see 3. Humor and sex always work… maybe not at the same time. 4. Seek out contests and festivals that provide judges’ feedback and, especially, those that allow you to ask follow-up questions. 5. If you get responses that are inconsistent with responses you have gotten from other judge sources, decide which one to black ball and keep track of them. 6. The best advice and success you are going to obtain will be when your screenplay is more refined. What else are you working on that the world needs to know about? |
At Two Beagles Studios, we have multiple projects in development:
Synopses: 1. “Santa’s Notebook”, three siblings stumble across Santa’s notebook, which contains much of the recipes for special sauce and magic his elves use. 2. “Perfection”, a fact-based fictional Feature drama screenplay about the illness of “Breast Implant Illness”, which led one woman to battle the medical industry and form a non-profit. Treatments: 1. “Dead Princess”, The prequel to “Scent of Blood” Complete Feature Screenplays: 1. “Return to Sender”, a fact-based fictional Feature action screenplay about a Lesbian couple who stumbled onto the Russian missile site that shot down the MH-17 airliner. 2. “Silver Eyes”, a science fiction “lite” Feature screenplay. Think Star Trek Nanites meets Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Will Wheaton is a must have for the Antagonist, “Dr. Lambert” Completed Short Screenplays: 1. “Blind Vampire”, a Short screenplay which was derived from the original “Scent of Blood” Feature. We will be producing Blind Vampire just before we start the “Scent of Blood” project. 2. “Brain Fog”, a Short thriller screenplay, based on COVID-19 experiences, collected from others (I just had a nasty cough and headache for two weeks) 3. “The Blue Suit”, a Sci-fi scene I could not fit into the “Vapor” Series pilot. 4. “Vapor First Colonists”, the original cold open to the “Vapor” pilot. I couldn't fit it in. Series: 1. “Chasers”, a comedy Pilot and Series Bible about tornado chasers in the American Midwest. Having chased storms and tornados myself, most of the content comes from the hilarity of the events. 2. “Vapor” a Sci-fi pilot and Series bible that occurs on a colony world several hundred years from now. Alien First Contact happens on this planet and it doesn’t go well. This story is derived from my Father’s experiences as a Radio Operator on B-17s flying missions over Europe during WW2. 3. “Sierra Whiskey” a super-hero Pilot and second episode and series bible about a group of multiservice military veterans who become imbued with superpowers. “Sierra Whiskey” is the call sign for “Season Warriors” Graphic Novels: 1. “Vapor First Colonists”, illustrated, completed 2. “Vapor”, in illustration.
