Where do you live (City, State, or Country)? San Francisco, CA
Your script or media entry stood out among hundreds of others. What was the inspiration for your project? I’ve always loved period stories and writing true to LGBTQ experiences and history. Plus I have a deep love for my adopted home town of San Francisco so it all came together in The Falcon.
How long did it take you to write your script or produce your pitch deck/sizzle reel/trailer...and what was your development process? I’ve been working on some iteration of it for several years. It was previously titled North Beach Noir and did pretty well in screenplay competitions and after a lot of professional feedback The Falcon was born. I lived in North Beach awhile a couple of years ago and just being on those streets brought that world to life for me.
What is your ultimate ambition as a writer or filmmaker? To see this particular script developed as a feature film or episodic series by a streamer or well funded production studio.
Which film directors or screenwriters inspire you? Why? Jane Campion but there are many others that are accomplished female writer/directors that shape stories from new and intelligent perspectives.
What’s your all-time favorite movie or television show? True Detective, Night Country; The Handmaids Tale; but too many others to mention.
What advice do you have for others hoping to win a contest or place as a finalist as you have? Believe in your character and the world you are creating. Have something interesting to say.
What else are you working on that the world needs to know about? I have two other scripts I may end up producing myself. One is almost finished and the other is a short that I would like to expand into feature length film
