I spent 32 years as a Special Agent with the Diplomatic Security Service, the law enforcement agency of the U.S. Department of State, and my wife was a Special Agent with the U.S. Secret Service.
In those 32 years I've protected Colin Powell, Condoleezza Rice, and Hillary Clinton, among other Secretaries of State, and I've shared conversations with Margaret Thatcher and every American president from Ronald Reagan to Donald Trump. |
I’ve touched Michelangelo's masterpiece on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, walked atop the Great Wall of China, and strolled barefoot through the Taj Mahal. I've stepped across the Arctic Circle, navigated the Panama Canal aboard a U.S. Navy vessel, and wandered the halls of Buckingham Palace and the White House unescorted. |
I've been shot at from pistols, rifles, and RPGs, fought against a rip current while swimming in Cuba, and survived when my SUV was swept into a raging river. I’ve bailed out Navy SEALs from jail, provided life-saving medical care to gunshot victims, and, unfortunately, identified casualties after terrorist attacks.
I’ve served overseas postings at American Embassies and Consulates in Bangkok, Rome, Tirana, Monrovia, Vancouver, Havana, Kabul, Brussels, and Manila, and I’ve traveled to well over a hundred countries. |
I have all this life-work experience swimming around in my head and I hope to be able to create some compelling characters and drop them in some of those exotic locations to create stories that people will want to watch.
I suck at fixing things around the house. I can’t dance for shit. I’m a miserable public speaker, and I can’t carry a conversation if the other person is even slightly introverted. But I can write. Not William Faulkner-level stuff, but I can string a couple sentences together that might be considered mildly entertaining. |
