Where do you live (City, State, or Country)?
I live on the Gold Coast of Australia, a subtropical paradise. Your script or media entry stood out among hundreds of others. What was the inspiration for your project ? The truth! The truth must get out there! My “Land of the Free” documentary series, which blows the lid off the nefarious underbelly of the trophy hunting industry, premiered in London’s House of Commons (2022) and went on to win awards all over the world. The series represents 20 years of blood, sweat, and tears, working hand-in-glove with British politicians, American influencers, globally respected conservationists, and Hollywood celebrities. It has since been instrumental in a historic victory (March 17, 2023) when the Bill to ban the imports of trophy hunting passed its third and final reading in London's House of Commons unanimously. |
How long did it take you to write your script or produce your pitch deck/sizzle reel/trailer...and what was your development process?
The project is currently in treatment form, with a pitch deck and sizzle reel (that was a Finalist the Palm Springs Screenplay Awards) seeking development funds for the screenplay. It has taken five years to get to this point as real life events are still unfolding around the story. What is your ultimate ambition as a writer or filmmaker? To empower through education and entertainment, to rally the people to enable positive change, and leave the world a better place as a result. Which film directors or screenwriters inspire you? Why? Directors: Joe Wright because his work on Darkest Hour was superlative and very apropos of this project. Alan Pakula for the same reason with his movies The Pelican Brief, All the President’s Men, and Presumed Innocent. And I have to mention Michael Apted for Gorillas in the Mist. Writer: Anthony McCarten… what I wouldn’t give to have him write this screenplay! What’s your all-time favorite movie or television show? Oh that’s tough. I love the big action adventure films, Mission Impossible particularly. But my all time favorite movies would be Raiders of the Lost Ark, Rambo II, Aliens II, and I have to mention Heath Ledger’s breathtaking performance in The Dark Knight. My favorite TV shows are eclectic: NCIS (Original series), Alias, Boston Legal, Blacklist, Stargate SG1 and Atlantis, Buffy, from 30 years ago, American Gothic. What advice do you have for others hoping to win a contest or place as a finalist as you have? Never give up. Never give in. Hold the faith. You’re going to win! What else are you working on that the world needs to know about? Oh gosh… a lot!! I am definitely not stuck in one genre!!
