Where do you live (City, State, or Country)? West Hollywood, CA
Your script or media entry stood out among hundreds of others. What was the inspiration for your project ? I’m a huge fan of Black Mirror and am fascinated by the relationship between humans and technology. So I thought if I could write my version of this popular show, how could I put my spin on it while staying true to my writing style? Thus, PRIORITI was born. A story where the technology – the AI program – was the main character, and the audience was watching how the AI grew and affected everything around it, all the while delving into character’s stories that felt real, genuine, and relatable.
How long did it take you to write your script or produce your pitch deck/sizzle reel/trailer...and what was your development process? The pilot script took me about a month to write. I had scheduled a table read for it to set a deadline for myself, which forced me to take time almost every day to work on the script. Self-imposed deadlines are a must!
What is your ultimate ambition as a writer or filmmaker? I started writing so that I could put myself into work that I was creating. So that’s what I want to do: write TV series and films where I can cast myself and my super talented friends.
Which film directors or screenwriters inspire you? Why? I’m really into Dan Levy, Richard Gadd, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge because they are doing what I want to do: create your own stuff and star in it. I’m also really inspired by Damon Lindelof and Craig Mazin as I feel their storytelling skills are truly remarkable across all genres.
What’s your all-time favorite movie or television show? Now you know that’s not an easy question to answer! But I would say some of my favs are Jurassic Park, American Beauty, A League of Their Own, Sister Act (1 & 2), X-Men ’97, Will & Grace, WandaVision, Breaking Bad, The Good Wife…I could go on.
What advice do you have for others hoping to win a contest or place as a finalist as you have? Stay true to your voice. Never submit a first or second draft. Have a table read for scripts, and an audience survey for film to see what works and what doesn’t.
What else are you working on that the world needs to know about? I have a comedy short that I wrote and starred in called Edgewise that is making its film circuit run. And I am currently writing my first horror film.
