Where do you live (City, State, or Country)?
Charlotte, NC Your script or media entry stood out among hundreds of others. What was the inspiration for your project ? I was inspired to write He Loves Me Knot because, like myself, many women struggle with finding true love. Through self-reflection, I realized that true love starts from within. There is no love better than the love I give myself. I want to help more women see love inside out instead of outside in. I want to help restore their hope for genuine connections. How long did it take you to write your script or produce your pitch deck/sizzle reel/trailer...and what was your development process? I had the idea for a few years, but I wasn’t sure how I wanted the story to end. Once I made up my mind It took me about a month to complete it. I spent a few hours writing each morning before work until it was finished. What is your ultimate ambition as a writer or filmmaker? It’s my ambition to inspire others to grow from their negative encounters. Which film directors or screenwriters inspire you? Why?
I’m inspired by Shonda Rhimes, Kelsey Grammar, Tyler Perry, and the late John Singleton I admire their creative ability to display real-life experiences. Like many others, they demonstrate strength and power through adversity. I’m a workaholic I’m always working on a project. Grey's Anatomy and Girlfriends are a few of the shows that I couldn’t seem to pull myself away from. What’s your all-time favorite movie or television show? My all-time favorite shows are Girlfriends, The Golden Girls, Law & Order & Criminal Minds. What advice do you have for others hoping to win a contest or place as a finalist as you have? My advice is to write about what you are most passionate about or what inspires you the most. What else are you working on that the world needs to know about? I have 3 finished screenplays, He Loves Me Knot, Karma is Her Name, and Contrary Effects. Karma Is Her Name was selected as Best Screenplay (unproduced) in the Venice Shorts Awards. He Loves Me Knot was chosen as a Quarterly Finalist in the three contests. It was selected in the Palm Springs Diversity Screenplay Contest, The Santa Barbara International Screenplay Awards, and Scriptapalooza Screenplay Awards. Contrary Effects has been selected to be a part of the Peachtree Village International Film Festival. I’m also working on a book to promote my podcast and a script for a TV show.
